Accidents at Work

Accidents at Work

When we go to work, we are sometimes exposed to a risk of injury.  Where the employer does not take sufficient care to prevent an accident at work, and an employee is injured as a result, the employee is entitled to bring a personal injury claim for compensation.  In the majority of cases, the employer’s insurer will cover the claim, if fault can be established.

Accidents at work can vary widely and can often be quite complicated.  We regularly act on a “no win no fee” basis, on behalf of injured Claimants to prove liability and seek a fair amount of compensation from the employer.

Each year, 95% of the UK’s imports and exports, and millions of passengers, pass through the UK’s ports.  Hundreds of thousands of employees work within the UK maritime industry.

Unfortunately, serious injuries can often occur to workers who have an accident in a dockyard.  Bartons regularly deal with these claims.  We have also acted for fishermen who have suffered injury on a fishing boat, and crew who have suffered injury on a ship or superyacht.

Former dockyard workers may have been exposed to asbestos, chemicals or excessive noise, and many will be entitled to bring compensation claims.

Bartons have a specialist marine department, based in Plymouth in Devon, with solicitors and barristers who not only have expertise in marine law but also have practical experience of the maritime environment.

Bartons will also consider acting in claims where there has been a serious injury in a non-marine workplace.

No win, no fee – and no success fee

We will act on behalf of people who have been injured at work, on a “no win no fee” basis.  We are happy to travel and can take on cases nationwide, wherever the injured person is based.

Also, we will not charge you a success fee.  Therefore, with the exception of any insurance premium, you will get to keep all of the compensation you receive.

If you have had an accident, or if you have a question about bringing a personal injury claim in respect of an accident at work, including on a ship or in a marina or dockyard, please get in touch with us.
