Cory joined Bartons in 2007 after graduating from Exeter University. She was admitted as a Solicitor in 2009 and completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law with London Metropolitan University in 2014, gaining a Distinction.
Cory undertakes a mixture of marine related claims on behalf of defendants and claimants including crew personal injuries and fatalities which includes multi-jurisdictional cases, assistance at coroner’s inquests, collisions, maritime professional negligence and maritime product liability. She also advises in fishing licence sale and purchases in addition to vessel sale, purchase, registration and mortgages on behalf of vendors, purchasers and mortgage companies.
Cory qualified as a RYA accredited Day Skipper (shore based and practical) in 2013 and obtained her RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore shore-based qualification in 2014. She has also undertaken the industry specific training and examinations to serve as a commercial fisherman in the UK. Cory is an elected member of the British Marine Insurance Financial and Legal Services (IFLSA) committee. The Legal 500 quotes her as ‘very smart, has great analytical skills and is hardworking’.
Cory has been a member of the Federation of Shotokan Karate Great British Squad since 2000 and earned her third Dan black belt at only 18. To date, she has won 12 British titles, 2 European titles and World Silver and Bronze medals.
